Temporary Structure Regulations

We take temporary structure regulations, the safety of our clients, staff and the public very seriously. Rest assured with Losberger we guarantee your temporary structures is built in accordance with the highest safety standards. Not all event organisers think to check the credentials of their temporary structure suppliers, merely requesting risk assessments and method statements does not ensure a company’s compliance with all current safety legislation. Safety can be taken for granted as if it should be part and parcel of a contractual agreement.

We want customers to know our prices will reflect not only the cost of hiring or  buying first class equipment but also first class safety. We build our structures in accordance with the new 2015 CDM regulations and BSEN13782 an EU standard which specifies safety requirements needing to be observed more about BSEN 13782:2015

All site crew are supplied with full PPE equipment according to what is required on the site in question, all staff members clearly display the Losberger Logo to ensure security on site.

Risk Assessments, Method statements and Site survey – In line with current temporary structure regulations a full site survey will be completed before work commences on any site, the client will then be issued with a site specific Risk Assessment and full Method Statement, along with a copy of our Health and Safety Policy. All our temporary structures are built in accordance with the engineers assembly guidelines, all crew members are formally trained in house on the correct installation and dismantling of each unit.

Event Tent Anchoring – This is the connection between the structure and the ground which prevents the building from moving or overturning in windy conditions. In order to evaluate the quality of the soil we recommend carrying out an uplift force test with a Losberger ground pull test kit at both extremities of the structure as well as every 50m.  

In line with current temporary structure regulations  sufficient anchors are required to counter act uplift forces these may be in the form of steel ground anchors, chemical anchors or expansion anchors, referring to our assembly guides for the correct quantities. If anchoring to the ground is not permitted then sufficient ballasts weights such as concrete can be used, the correct weight needs to be determined using  the static calculations for the temporary structure in question.

Where scaffold is required on very uneven ground usually with variations over 0.75m  the platform on which the event structures are built must comply to BS EN 12811-1:2003 and BS 5975: 1996, Losberger will provide the scaffold contractor with all the necessary design wind load, anchorage load, point load and occupancy level.

Event Tent  bracing – Bracing counteracts the effects of wind on the gables as well as the roof. Two rules must always be followed 1) first and last bays must always be braced 2) intermediate bays must be braced with a maximum of 5 consecutive non braced bays. Suitable portal beam bracing maybe used to replace diagonal and cross bracing where access through that bay is required.

Control Measures – After the installation of a temporary structure it is essential to check the following:-

  1. The anchoring, number of pegs and pegs entirely in the ground, when the structure is packed up the part of he pegs that is in the ground must be sufficient to take the uplift force.
  2. The position of  lateral and roof bracing cables plus the tightening and tension of the cables.
  3. The fitting of all pins, bolts and R clips
  4. The tension of roof covers and walls to avoid ponding.
  5. Completely seal the structure before leaving site.

Event Tent Suspension Loads – In line with current temporary structure regulations correct suspension loads are provided for each temporary structure size/range according to the static calculations of load bearing capacity.

Suspension load per point – Is this max load which can be applied as a point or ar any point per truss

Suspension load per truss – is the maximum total load which can be applied as equal loads to at least 5 suspension points along the truss which are equally distributed over the complete span width.

Event Tent Wind & Snow Loading – In line with current temporary structure regulations all temporary structures in the Losberger range  have the following values wind loading 0.50Kn/sqm / wind speed of 100Km/h DIN EN 13782

Event Tent Exits & Entrances – In line with current temporary structure regulations all stages and platforms higher than 60cm accessible to the general public are fitted with a handrail at least 1m high; exit and entrance ramps for the general public do not have a gradient of more than 1 in 15 and are surfaced with a suitable anti-slip material. Exit doors are clearly signposted with illuminecent signs. Losberger comply to current DDA Regulations.

Event Tent Fire Certificates – In line with current temporary structure regulations all fabrics used on Losberger temporary structures / marquees are flame retardant and certified as conforming to  test 2 of BS5438 or annex A of BS7837

Event Tent Fire Safety-  In line with current temporary structure regulations event tents holding 50 persons or more should have a least 2 exits, the maximum distance to travel to an exit from any point should not exceed 24m. All exit should open outwards and be fitted with a panic bar or latch according to BS EN 1125 and BS EN 179

Plant & machinery – Only Losberger operatives who are fully trained and carry the correct licences will operate plant and machinery.

Construction Site Certification Scheme (CSCS) – All Losberger crew hold CSCS cards a scheme set up to assist the construction industry in improving quality, safety and reduce accidents. CSCS cards are increasingly demanded as proof of occupational competence by contractors, public and private clients amongst others and has become the industry standard.
